This policy explains what information the Tesboard iPhone app (“Tesboard”, “the app”) handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. Tesboard is provided by Kaan Sarıkaya under the odikapps brand (“we”, “us”), who is the data controller for the limited personal data described below.
The short version.
- Tesboard has no user accounts, no advertising, and no tracking. It collects anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) that are not linked to you and that you can turn off in Settings. We do not sell or share your personal data, and we do not operate servers that receive it.
- Your vehicle data, trip history and settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- A small amount of data leaves your device only to provide specific features: map, directions and place names (Apple), album artwork (Deezer), crash and error reports (Sentry), purchases (Apple and RevenueCat), and anonymous usage statistics (Google).
Tesboard is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Tesla is a trademark of Tesla, Inc.
Information the app handles
1.1 Vehicle data (Bluetooth)
Tesboard connects directly to your car over Bluetooth Low Energy as a phone key. Through that link it reads vehicle status such as speed, gear, battery level, range, power, charging state, climate, tire pressures, door/trunk status, odometer, the location reported by the car, and the artist/album/title of the media playing in the car.
- This data is displayed in the app and used to compute trips and energy consumption.
- It is processed on your iPhone. The app does not send it to us or to Tesla.
- You enter your car’s VIN to pair. The VIN and the vehicle nickname you choose are stored on your iPhone.
1.2 Pairing key
When you pair, Tesboard generates a cryptographic key pair on your iPhone. The private key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and never leaves it; only the public key is sent to your car (over Bluetooth) so the car can recognise your phone.
1.3 Location
With your permission (“While Using the App”), Tesboard uses your iPhone’s location to:
- show your position and heading on the dashboard map and follow it while driving;
- calculate turn-by-turn routes when you set a destination;
- record the route of each trip, and the start and end points and place names of trips.
While a trip is being recorded, location updates may continue briefly in the background (for example during a phone call); iOS shows the location indicator whenever this happens, and background updates stop when the trip ends or the car disconnects.
Trip routes and places are stored only on your iPhone. To display the map, calculate directions and name places and roads, the app uses Apple Maps services (MapKit and Core Location geocoding), which receive the coordinates needed to answer each request. Apple processes this data under the Apple Privacy Policy.
The app works without location access; only the map, navigation and trip routes are unavailable.
1.4 Trip history, energy data and settings
Completed trips (time, distance, speed, energy, battery levels, route and places), energy-consumption calibration data, and your preferences (units, theme, language, dashboard face, refresh rate, etc.) are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device storage (SwiftData and UserDefaults). They are not uploaded anywhere by the app, apart from the coarse trip ranges and settings listed in 1.9 (only while usage sharing is on).
1.5 Album artwork (Deezer)
The car only shares text about the music that is playing. To show the album cover, Tesboard sends the artist name and album name of the current track to Deezer’s public search API (api.deezer.com) and then loads the cover image from Deezer’s servers. No account, advertising identifier or other personal identifier is sent, but — as with any internet request — Deezer receives your device’s IP address. Deezer processes this under its own privacy policy: deezer.com/legal/personal-datas.
1.6 Diagnostic logs
The app keeps a diagnostic log in memory while it runs, and writes vehicle data fields that it does not yet recognise to a log file in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. These logs are never uploaded. They leave your device only if you choose to export and share them yourself.
Crash and error reports (Sentry). If the app crashes, freezes, or hits a serious error (for example when connecting to or pairing with your vehicle fails), a diagnostic report is sent to our crash-reporting provider, Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). A report contains technical information only: the error or crash details, app version, device model, iOS version, language, time zone, and memory/storage figures, plus a random identifier used to count crash-free sessions. Before a report leaves your iPhone, the app removes your vehicle’s VIN, location coordinates and any key material; reports contain no account, contact or location data and are not used for tracking or advertising. See the Sentry Privacy Policy.
1.7 Purchases
Premium features are sold through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your payment details. Apple’s handling of purchase data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
To check whether your purchase or subscription is active, and to let you restore it, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) as our purchase-management service provider (processor). RevenueCat receives:
- an anonymous app user ID that the app generates at random — it is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, VIN or any other identifier, and we do not create accounts;
- your purchase history for Tesboard (which product was bought, when, renewal/expiry status, transaction identifiers and the App Store receipt/transaction data Apple provides), plus your storefront country, currency and price;
- technical information needed to answer the request: app version, iOS version, device model, language and, as with any internet request, your IP address.
RevenueCat uses this only to verify and manage your purchases for us; it is not used for tracking or advertising, and no vehicle data, location or trip data is sent. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. The RevenueCat SDK’s own privacy manifest declares “Purchase History — not linked to you, not used for tracking, app functionality”.
1.8 Live Activities and Picture in Picture
If you enable a Background Display option, Tesboard shows live vehicle data in a Live Activity (Dynamic Island / Lock Screen) or a Picture-in-Picture window. This is rendered on your iPhone only.
1.9 Anonymous usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
To understand which features are used and where the app needs work, Tesboard uses Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited) as our analytics service provider (processor). While usage sharing is on, the app sends:
- app events from a fixed list, with coarse values only: onboarding completed; pairing started, succeeded or failed (with a general reason such as “Bluetooth off” or “car not found”); demo started or exited; the purchase screen shown (and which feature opened it); a purchase or restore started, completed or failed (plan type and a general reason); a trip recorded (distance and duration in broad ranges such as “20–50 km” and “under 5 min”); Background Display, theme mode, language or HUD mirror changed; Map Focus opened; the GPS speed fallback engaged; and which main screen was opened (dashboard, settings, trips, purchase screen, onboarding);
- coarse settings: app language, unit system (metric / imperial / mixed), theme mode, whether Premium is active, and the number of vehicles (0, 1, 2, 3 or more);
- technical information collected by the Firebase SDK: a random app-instance identifier, the iOS identifier for vendor, app version, iOS version, device model, language, session timing, and the approximate region (country / city) Google derives from your IP address.
It never includes your VIN, vehicle name, location coordinates, routes, street or destination names, the car’s Bluetooth name, pairing keys, purchase receipts or your Apple ID — the app only sends values from fixed lists and masks anything else before it leaves your iPhone. The app sets no user ID, does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA), turns off ad-personalization signals, and does not use the data for tracking or advertising; the data is not linked to your identity. Development builds do not send analytics.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings › About › Share Anonymous Usage Data; collection stops immediately and stays off until you turn it back on. Google keeps analytics event data for the retention period we set in Google Analytics (at most 14 months). See How Google uses information from apps that use its services, the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-in or cloud sync.
- No advertising SDKs. The third-party SDKs are Sentry (crash reports — see 1.6), RevenueCat (purchase verification — see 1.7) and Google Analytics for Firebase (anonymous usage statistics you can turn off — see 1.9).
- No tracking across apps or websites: the app never reads the advertising identifier (IDFA) or asks for tracking permission, and there are no data brokers.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
If this changes, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before the change ships.
Permissions
| Permission | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Connect to your car | Yes — core function |
| Location (While Using) | Map, navigation, trip routes | No |
You can change these at any time in iOS Settings › Tesboard.
Retention and deletion
All data stays on your iPhone until you delete it:
- Delete a vehicle in the app to permanently remove its pairing key and all of its trip and energy history.
- Individual trips can be deleted from the trip history.
- Deleting the app removes its stored data. Note that iOS may keep Keychain items after an app is deleted; delete the vehicle in the app first to remove the pairing key.
- You can also remove the phone key from the car itself in the car’s key/locks settings.
Data you exported yourself (for example a shared log file) is outside the app’s control.
Children
Tesboard is a vehicle companion app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. Because Tesboard keeps your data on your device and we do not hold a copy, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app as described above. For any question or request, contact us at destek@odikapps.com.
Some of the service providers described in section 1 (Apple, Deezer, Sentry, RevenueCat and Google) may process the limited data described there outside your country, under their own privacy policies.
6.1 Users in Turkey (KVKK)
Under Article 11 of Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), you have the right to:
- learn whether your personal data is processed, and request information if it is;
- learn the purpose of the processing and whether it is used for that purpose;
- know the third parties, in Turkey or abroad, to whom it is transferred;
- request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data, and its deletion or destruction;
- request that such correction or deletion be notified to the third parties it was transferred to;
- object to a result against you that arises solely from automated analysis;
- claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.
Send requests to destek@odikapps.com. We answer free of charge, and in any case within 30 days as the law requires. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK Kurumu).
6.2 Users in the EU, EEA and UK (GDPR)
Under the GDPR (and the UK GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw any consent you gave (for example, location access in iOS Settings) at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at destek@odikapps.com.
